Astros sign Yordan Alvarez to 6-year,  $115 million extension

The Houston Astros have signed designated hitter/outfielder Yordan Alvarez to a six-year,

$115 million extension starting next season

The raise will take him through his arbitration years and for three seasons after he is due to become a free agent.

The 24-year-old Alvarez has 75 home runs and a 155 OPS+ since joining the Astros in 2019,

when he hit .313 with 27 homers slugged and was named Rookie of the Year.

He’s scaled .272/.367/.574 with 14 home runs this season.

Alvarejo is a proven October performer, with an OPS of .843 in 34 postseason games.

He was named ALCS MVP last season after going 12-for-23 in the Astros’ six-game series win over the Red Sox.
