Tropical Storm Colin Aims at the Carolinas

Early on Saturday morning, Colin formed just off the South Carolina coast.

This happens hours after Nicaragua was hit by Tropical Storm Bonnie.

Over the weekend, Colin is forecast to slowly pass through the Carolinas.

From South Sente River, South Carolina to Duck, North Carolina, a Tropical Storm Warning was in effect.

Up to four inches of rain was forecast at some places, with heavy downpour expected.

From June 1 to November 30, the Atlantic hurricane season is in effect.

According to meteorologists, 14 to 21 named storms are expected in the season, of which six to ten are developing into hurricanes.

Over time, a warmer world can see bigger storms and the most severe storms.

Storm surge, the most destructive component of tropical cyclones, is becoming more frequent due to rising sea levels.
